How can you support us?

There are a number of different ways that you can support the Greater Manchester Environment Fund. From local, high impact carbon offsetting to biodiversity net gain, the Greater Manchester Environment Fund is working to create opportunities for investing in and supporting habitat restoration and other nature-based solutions projects across Greater Manchester.

Climate Change Mitigation

GMEF is developing a Carbon Facility to unlock private investment in the restoration of carbon landscapes across Greater Manchester. This will provide a supply of high-quality, local carbon offsets that deliver substantial ecological and social benefits to our city region, while supporting project developers in generating carbon income.

Habitat banking

Greater Manchester is seeking to embed Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) policy across its 10 districts to ensure sustainable development that measurably enhances biodiversity as part of its commitment to becoming a green city region.

To support these ambitions, GMEF is developing a Habitat Banking Facility to unlock private investment in local nature recovery across the city region in advance of the need to mitigate the impact of new developments.
