The idea

Helping to rebuild the lives of those at risk within Greater Manchester with multiple barriers to employment; particularly ex-offenders, the homeless and those battling addiction. Renewal North West has been successful in breaking the re-offending cycle in 63% of those who have attended their residential programmes. Individuals on their Community Work Programme operate a large re-use warehouse in the heart of Stockport that provides pre-loved household furniture, WEEE and textiles back into the community at low-cost. They developed a WEEE project employing a part-time Community Computer manager and IT technician, taking in the computers for refurbishment from businesses. This project will extend the service to household IT/ WEEE refurbishment. They would also like to reach out to Stockport residents to increase donations coming through to the project from households for re-use; and they'd like to equip Community Computers with the key staffing resources that will support this re-use development.
