Community Garden on Cricket Boundary

About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Community Garden on Cricket Boundary

LOCATION: Bolton

FUNDING: Awarded £15,000 in Round Two of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund

DELIVERED BY: Bolton Deane and Derby Cricket and Social Club

The idea

To create a community garden accessible to the communities in Great Lever, Harper Green and Rumworth in Bolton to spend time in nature, attend organised events, and engage with others. The project will improve and open up the area around the cricket ground, with the space developed and overseen by the local community.

Community dig days will be arranged to clear rubbish and overgrown plants to make space for the community garden. Schools from the local area will be invited for educational visits, and community events will be hosted through the year such as a Christmas Market and community BBQ's. A community café will be set up as a place for events and socialising, and will also raise money to support the project further.

The garden project will act as a catalyst for the wider community activities and will help the club to become a community hub that is a welcome and accessible space for all.
