About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Deeplish Community Space & Garden

LOCATION: Rochdale

FUNDING: Awarded £36,200 in Round Two of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund

DELIVERED BY: Deeplish Community Centre

The idea

Deeplish Community Centre are working to involve the local community in creating a wildlife area and community garden at the centre and around the building.

Workshops will be held at the centre on topics such as growing and sowing food and flowers, creating wildflower meadows, tree planting, composting, water collection and habitat creation. Regular open days will promote nature recovery, and green activities throughout the year will offer taster activities and an opportunity for participants to showcase their achievements.

Training, joining nature based social groups, buddying systems and being able to explore what nature means to them and what they want from their outdoor space will create the opportunity for cultural change where residents feel more connected to nature.
