About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Family UP-cycle Garden and Crafts workshops

LOCATION: Bury

FUNDING: Awarded £4,935 from the Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund (2022 - 2023)

PARTNERS: The Sunnywood Project

The idea

To engage families and disadvantaged young people in wellbeing conservation workshops and education to build nature crafts from old items or disposable rubbish. This will allow families to plan, design, and build bug hotels, hedgehog houses, bird houses, planters, weather monitors, wind chimes, mini ponds, mini gardens, herb gardens, etc. Once families complete their project then some items will be taken home and others will be used in community garden spaces and local nature reserves in Bury East and Tottington Bury. As part of the educational part of workshops, families will learn about recycling, up-cycling, environmental impact (positive and negative), and their local native nature, from native plants and trees to wildlife.
