About the project

PROJECT TITLE: GROW with the FLOW

LOCATION: Wigan

FUNDING: Awarded £33,316 in Round Two of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund

DELIVERED BY: Friends of Low Hall

The idea

GROW with the FLOW will focus on wildlife and woodland enhancement and the team have a strong commitment to engaging and involving the local community and ensuring the space is welcoming and accessible. The team will run inclusive community events, promote volunteering, engage with schools, improve physical access, and develop sensory trails. Schools and Brownie and Guides groups in the area will be invited to join educational activities such as pond dipping, bug house building, and tree planting.

Selective felling of non-native trees and replanting of native understory species such as hazel and elder will be undertaken to re-establish woodland suitable for the diverse range of species in the area, such as the Endangered Willow Tit, and increase the climate and disease resilience of the woodland.
