The idea

The Little Green Social Spaces project is working to transform neglected alleyways in the Coldhurst area into vibrant green social spaces where the local residents can get involved in planting and environmental initiatives. The design will be planned based on feedback from local residents on what they want to see in the space.

The new, vibrant green alleyway hubs are intended to help to address the health and wellbeing of the community by providing healthy green space that everyone can enjoy and bringing people together, creating lasting friendships and strengthening existing ones.

Residents will monitor the space daily, prune, water and look after new plants and trees, and be able to sow vegetable and herb seeds. Events can be held in the area, such as parties for Christmas and Eid, and any fruits and vegetables grown can be used for food at the events.
