About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Plastic Shed

LOCATION: Stockport

FUNDING: Awarded £10,000 from the Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund (2021 - 2022)

PARTNERS: Plastic Shed

The idea

Plastic Shed brings people together in Stockport to turn plastic waste into new, useful things.

From wallets made from waste plastic packaging, plastic caps recycled into colourful tiles, to planters and tote bags made from old vinyl banners - Plastic Shed are exploring the possibilities of this abundant waste material, sharing their learnings and finding ways for local people, from all walks of life, to get involved with tackling this shared problem. At their home in the Merseyway Shopping Centre, Plastic Shed will manage a collection point for plastics that can't be thrown into the council bins. Using their bespoke machinery and creative techniques they will then work with the public to shred, melt, mould and up-cycle the plastic waste. The funding will also be used to run group litter pick and foraging events and help Plastic Shed to work with more volunteers.Â
