About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Sustainable Fashion and Rough Sleepers

LOCATION: Salford

FUNDING: Awarded £10,000 from the Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund (2021 - 2022)

PARTNERS: Oasis Community Hub MediaCityUK

The idea

Upcycling and reusing clothing and educating project users on fashion sustainability, the issues with "fast fashion" and the benefits of shopping locally and ethically.

As part of the project, empty crisp packets will be made into foil blankets to be given to the homeless community in Salford to keep them warm over winter. This craft recycling project will combine with current hub projects like the weekly youth club, Talk English café and Church. The project will also increase employment options as fashion employability is explored with the many roles in fashion looked at in detail.
