Green Spaces Fund Impact Report - Round 2

Green Spaces Fund Impact Report - Round 2

Now that groups from the second round of the Green Spaces Fund have completed their projects, we're taking an in-depth look at the impact their work has had across Greater Manchester.

The Green Spaces Fund is one of the funding pots that we administer at the GMEF, and it supports community-led projects that want to create or improve green spaces in Greater Manchester.

It was launched in summer 2022 following a commitment in the Mayor’s manifesto to:

Create a new Green Spaces Fund to give small grants to communities to clean
up and improve pocket parks and local green spaces or create new ones where they are needed.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority invested £2.6m into the Fund, which includes funding for the delivery of projects, management and administration of the Fund by the Greater Manchester Environment Fund and support for communities provided by a team of Green Spaces Fund Advisors.

This investment has covered five rounds of funding since to date and supported over 100 projects, with successful applicants at various stages of delivery.

We have created the below Impact Report to provide an overview of the outputs of the Green Spaces Fund as of September 2024, at the end of the conclusion of Round 2 of projects supported by the Fund.
