About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Seed, Sow, Grow

LOCATION: Salford

FUNDING: Awarded £31,600 in Round Two of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund

DELIVERED BY: Salford Involved

The idea

The Seed, Sow, Grow project is involving local residents in developing the land surrounding their community building to create high quality green space for nature to flourish. The team will add raised beds, insect hotels and a beehive to the space and create a green roof which will add an additional 350+ m2 of green space, attracting birds and other wildlife to create a thriving eco-friendly habitat.

The project will use social media, e-mail, posters and networking with local groups such as cultural organisations and disability groups to promote opportunities to get involved in the project to create a real sense of local ownership. Community organisers will also reach out to isolated and vulnerable people to make the project accessible. Volunteers will also be encouraged to share knowledge, develop their skills and gain qualifications through the project.
