The Stretford Tree Trail

About the project

PROJECT TITLE: The Stretford Tree Trail

LOCATION: Trafford

FUNDING: Awarded £39,770 in Round Two of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund

PARTNERS: Stretford Community Collective

The idea

The Stretford Tree Trail will enhance and create green spaces across Stretford to and create a safe and accessible walking and cycling route to link them together. The Tree Trail will be accompanied by printed leaflets and an online map to help navigate between parks, gardens and other community growing spaces.

The project will bring together six different community groups from across Stretford, who will each deliver a 'mini project' aimed at improving their own greenspace. The projects will focus on promoting biodiversity and sustainable gardening. Eight community workshops will also be held to build bat and bird boxes which will be installed across Stretford. In addition, the project will deliver two larger scale projects - a major enhancement of greenspace at the Meadows Estate, and the creation of new greenspace at Stretford Public Hall in Stretford town centre.
