About the project
PROJECT TITLE: Withington Baths Community Garden
LOCATION: Manchester
FUNDING: Awarded £17,600 in Round Three of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund
DELIVERED BY: Withington Baths
The idea
Creation of a new high quality pocket park to the front of a community asset, currently a poorly configured space with several design flaws which when addressed will provide a more functional, accessible and attractive community space, by removal the concrete ramp to release more space for planting, removal of excessive railings which are restricting access and dividing up the area, introducing natural sustainable play, re-introducing the original 100m long hedgerow and a linear wildflower to encourage biodiversity, and additional planting and biodiversity measures such as bird boxes, bug hotels, and Grow Your Own Food mini allotments.
