Old Trafford Community Goes Wild

About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Old Trafford Community Goes Wild

LOCATION: Trafford

FUNDING: Awarded £39,961.20 in Round Three of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund

DELIVERED BY: Love Old Trafford (LOTs)

The idea

LOTs will improve a site on Stretford Road between Northumberland Road and Carver Street, Old Trafford (OT). This grassed site is used as unofficial parking on event days and has become damaged/littered resulting in complaints from residents. Improvements would be based on views of the community, encouraging volunteering, educating about biodiversity and learning new skills. Our project will allow the grass to grow, create a wildflower strip, install planters containing pollution absorbing plants, herbs and install natural barriers to prevent parking. The project will improve the appearance and biodiversity of the site while encouraging OT residents to connect with nature.
