About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Ryder Brow Pocket Park & Woodland Walk

LOCATION: Manchester

FUNDING: Awarded £30,320.56 in Round Three of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund

DELIVERED BY: Ryder Brow Community Allotment Society

The idea

We will create a high quality and accessible pocket park on an under-utilised space adjacent to allotments in Gorton. Currently this space is a magnet for ASB; fly tipping, dog fouling and suspected drug dealing. With community input, we will revitalise this space as a community orchard with incredible edible beds, new wildlife habitats and open up access to a remarkable woodland area. It will frame the adjacent Ryder Brow Community Allotments, making it a welcoming arrival point for the wider community. We will create and maintain this space with local people – empowering them to get involved with nature.
