About the project

PROJECT TITLE: Vitality Gardens

LOCATION: Tameside

FUNDING: Awarded £37,040 in Round Two of the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund

DELIVERED BY: Community Matters Zest Wellbeing

The idea

The Vitality Gardens project is turning abandoned, overgrown & fly tipped allotment space into a usable growing area and peace garden for local community use. Members from the local community will be encouraged to contribute their ideas on the design of the projects to ensure it suits their needs.

The local community will be invited to a series of wellbeing growing days and planting sessions to get involved with the growing space and to learn how to manage and maintain the site. Sustainable living will be encouraged through seed to plate activities and sessions on how to use the vegetables grown in the growing space in meals at home. Other sessions include making bird boxes, insect hotels and ways to support wildlife.
