GMEF is the UK’s first regional environmental impact fund and it will benefit the region socially, environmentally and financially. It will be a central funding source for projects that work within strategic plans to help Greater Manchester realise its environmental ambitions in the long term.
GMEF will ensure there is support for funding projects that will resolve environmental and natural health issues in the diverse communities around Greater Manchester. Funders will also include organisations who have chosen enforcement undertakings when they have committed offences and need to resolve these by benefitting the environment. GMEF will put forward suitable projects. It will offer opportunities for funders to play their part in creating a greener region.
It has already been successful in raising £1.8milllion from the Green Challenge Recovery Fund and £220,000 is now available from Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund (2021-22) - a joint Recycle for Greater Manchester (R4GM) and Suez initiative to support Greater Manchester Community and Voluntary sector groups to deliver projects that help to reduce household waste in Greater Manchester.
Your GMEF team will ensure that funds find the right projects to ensure Greater Manchester has a brighter, greener future for generations to come.
